Day 1 - Depart Chicago O’Hare Airport via nonstop flight on United Airlines to Mexico City. Upon arrival meet Dorota our tour guide to begin our tour of Mexico City with mass at the Shrine of Mexican Martyr Blessed Miguel Pro who was executed by authorities during the Mexican Revolution. Overnight in hotel.
Day 2 - After breakfast we will begin our tour of the historic center of Mexico City an UNESCO World Heritiage site. Zocalo the largest plaza in Latin America holds 100,000 people. We will celebrate the Holy Mass and visit the Metropolitan Catherdal dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary which was built on the remains of an Aztec temple. We will continue by visiting the Presidential Palace, the old town, and Chapultepec Park, the largest park in Latin America. After lunch we will visit the Museum of History & Anthropology, one of the most famous museums in the world to see objects before preshispanic times. Dinner & overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 - After breakfast we depart to the Shrine of our Lady of Guadalupe - the beloved Patroness of the Americas. We will celebrate the Holy Mass while taking in the brillant colors of the Basilica. We will kneel before the Tilma where our Lady’s miraculous image was imprinted. After free time at the Basilica we travel to the Church of the 5th Apparition (Santa Maria Tulpetlac) named a World Center of Healing by Pope John Paul II. Here our Lady of Guadalupe appered to Juan Bernardino, Juan Diego’s uncle. Under the altar is a healing well of water which we are encouraged to take from. Afterwards we will transfer to take a boat ride through the ancient canals of Xiochimilco while listening to mariachi and tasting the national drink of Mexioc—tequila. Dinner & overnight at the hotel
Day 4 - After breakfast we will travel through spectacular volcanic scenery to Mexico’s most beautiful city - Puebla. As we travel we will climb over 10,000 feet above sea level and view two magnificent peaks one an active volcano and the other covered by snow. In Puebla we will visit the Pyraid of Cholula, a symbol of the religious conquest of Mexico, and the scenic village church of Santa Maria Tonantzintla. After lunch we will visit the historical center,the Cathedral and the church of Saint Dominic with its beautiful chapel of the Rosary where we will celebrate the Holy Mass. Before our return to Mexico City we will also visit the church of St. Francis of Assisi to view the incorrupt body of St.Sebasitan of Aparicido. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day 5 - After breakfast we will visit the famous Plaza of Three Cultures which is a symbol of the culture of Mexico. We will visit the church of Santiago Tlatelolco where St. Juan Diego was baptized and the Aztec ruins. We will continue our trip to the famous pyramids of Teotihuacan, where we will visit the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Moon, and the Temple of Quetzalcoatl. We will get to know the process of making the carved object in the obsidian stone - of the gods. We will have dinner in the area, and in the evening we will return to the hotel for overnight.
Day 6 - After breakfast we will return to the Basilica of Guadalupe for the Holy Mass before departing for the airport to say good bye to our tour leader and return back to the US.
